Carmelite Monastery

Crestone, Colorado - The CARMELITE MONESTARY, built between 1984 and 1986, sits at the base of the 14,000 foot high Sangre de Christo mountains. The compound consists of the main chapel, a community center and several remote hermitage buildings, some of which are partially underground - built into the rolling sand dune hillsides (see image 4).
